Finance Minister Felix Mutati has said the government will continue to engage the youths of Zambia in order to reach common ground on their aspirations for empowerment and personal advancement.
“When designing development interventions, we have to make sure that such initiatives also provide opportunities for the youth,” said Mr. Mutati.
The Minister confirmed that, “Zambia is in discussing with the World Bank on the prospect of establishing a financing facility for agro value chain development and marketing.”
“The government is in the process of implementing public financial management reforms to ascertain optimal utilization of public resources and ensure that funds are channeled to intended recipients and purposes,” assured Mr. Mutati, who also stated that the GRZ/WORLD BANK AGRO VALUE CHAIN INITIATIVE will be targeted at the true beneficiaries: among them are the youth of Zambia.
The Minister was speaking during a reflection of events at the recent IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings held in Washington DC, USA.
The MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORT has designed and is implementing several youth development programmes in all provinces of Zambia. In Mporokoso, the Ministry of Youth and Sport has secured portions land which have been given to youths for agri-business development.
