2020 NATIONAL BUDGET TO BE PRESENTED ON FRIDAY, 27th SEPTEMBER 2019
LUSAKA, Tuesday, 24th September 2019 – The Minister of Finance, Honourable Dr. Bwalya Ng’andu, MP, announces that the 2020 National Budget is now undergoing final consistency checks and refinement. The Minister reaffirms that he will be ready to present the National Budget to Parliament on Friday, 27th September 2019.
Over the last four (4) months, the Ministry of Finance has been conducting budget consultations with all stakeholders and the general public throughout the country. To ensure that the engagement was sufficiently broad, the Ministry of Finance held consultations with members of the general public, private sector, civil society, and other non-state actors, who made proposals on tax, non-tax and other development policy proposals for consideration in the 2020 Budget.
Over the coming weeks and months, the Ministry of Finance will conduct post-budget dissemination and sensitization programmes.
On budget night, being Friday, 27th September 2019, the Minister will officiate at a JOINT budget review forum organised by the Economics Association of Zambia, the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants. The event will be held in the evening at the New Government Complex in Lusaka.
On Saturday, 28th September 2019, the Minister will officiate at a budget discussion event organized by Price Water House Coopers and then feature on the ZNBC TV1 Sunday Interview on Sunday 29th September 2019. On Monday 30th September 2019, the Minister will then officiate at budget preview events organized by Deloitte and KPMG.
